Its Board of Commissioners provides for the examinination of applicants who seek to practice law. The Alabama State Bar is the licensing and regulatory agency for attorneys in the State of Alabama, subject to Rules of the Alabama Supreme Court.

Idaho State Bar
The Idaho State Bar (ISB) is a self-governing state agency of Idaho. Portions of the Idaho Code pertaining to the practice of law in Idaho date back to 1881, however, the present “integrated” Bar was established by the Legislature in 1923 and 1925. As an integrated Bar, all attorneys practicing law in Idaho must be licensed by the Idaho State Bar.

Kentucky Bar Association
The Kentucky Bar Association is an independent agency of the Supreme Court of Kentucky. Its authority to regulate the legal profession in Kentucky, delegated by the Kentucky Supreme Court through rules, is derived from the Kentucky Constitution.

New Hampshire Bar Association (NHBA)
The New Hampshire Bar Association (NHBA) is a non-profit, court-mandated organization. As a unified bar, all attorneys licensed to practice in the state, and NH judges must belong to the NHBA and pay annual dues. As of July 2006, 4,398 members were within one of the "active" membership status categories (i.e. currently authorized to practice in state). Of these, 3,251 maintained a principal office in-state, with another 1,147 of these "active" category members out-of-state. An additional 1,487 members are on "inactive" status (i.e. not currently authorized to practice in NH) - 467 in-state; 1,020 out-of-state. The total of all membership categories is 5,885.

South Carolina Bar Association
The South Carolina Bar began in 1884 as the South Carolina Bar Association, a voluntary organization of approximately 200 lawyers. The South Carolina State Bar was created in 1968. The two organizations were merged in 1975. Currently the Bar has a membership of more than 11,500.

The State Bar is a professional membership organization of attorneys licensed to practice law in the State of New Mexico. Established in 1886, the State Bar currently (08/2005) has over 7,616 members. The State Bar of New Mexico (State Bar) was incorporated under the laws of the State of New Mexico in 1978. Prior to that, the State Bar operated as an agency of the Supreme Court of the State of New Mexico, established by State Statute on March 17, 1925.

The State Bar is a part of the Judicial Branch of West Virginia State Government, since it is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Appeals. However, the Bar does not receive any taxpayer funds, relying upon dues from its members and other private sources of income.
